A former Head of State, General Abdusalam Abubakar (rtd) and Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi on Saturday bagged Doctorate Degrees of Doctor of Science (Dsc Honoris Causa) and Public Administration of Crescent University, Abeokuta respectively.
Oba Adeyemi was also decorated as the Chancellor of the University.
They duo were among those honoured during the 2015/2016 convocation ceremony, and award of First, Master and Honorary degree held inside the Bola Ajibola auditorium of the University.
The 8th convocation ceremony saw 435 graduating with First degrees and eight with Master degree.
In his acceptance remark, General Abubakar (rtd.) described the conferrment of the honorary award on him as the one he and his family will cherish forever.
Alaafin, in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude to the management of the university for the honour done him.
The monarch promised to do everything within his disposal to position Crescent university to an enviable height.
He commended the proprietor of the school, Prince Bola Ajibola (SAN) for his contribution to the development of education in Nigeria by investing his assets in the establishment of the university.
Alafin was the former Pro-Chancellor of the Uthman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, charged the graduants to be good ambassadors of the school and make use of their training to contribute to the growth and development of the society.
He also charged them to face the future with confidence adding “you should not only be job seekers but also entrepreneurs and inevitable job givers”.
The convocation event which produced 28 First Class graduants, saw Miss Rasheedat Olowookere Modupeola of Accounting department emerging as the best graduating student of the year, while Arogundade Abdul-Wahab of department of Chemical Sciences and Miss Muktar Fatimatu Binta of department of Mass Communication, emerged as the best behaved male graduating student and best behaved female graduating student respectively.
Other dignitaries at the occasion are Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Governor of Niger state, Abubakar Sanni Bello,former Governor of Ogun State, Akinrogun Olusegun Osoba, awake of Egbaland Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, JAMB registrar, Prof Isiaq Oloyede and Chief host Prince Bola Ajibola.
